Beverly's House
Leading by example, Beverly Nestande was one of Orange's most noted philanthropists, activists and volunteers. Beverly's legacy goes beyond Orange's borders as her advocacy has been honored with memorial funds, awards and annual events by charities and nonprofit groups throughout Orange County that were touched by her passion and enduring belief that one person can make a difference. |

An untiring advocate for abused and neglected children, Beverly 's vision and dedication spearheaded a movement in the city to create a special place for young women leaving foster care. Teaming with the YWCA of Central Orange County, Beverly 's leadership was key to the development of the First Steps Program. Designed to provide transitional housing to emancipated foster girls who might otherwise be homeless, the program continues to this day in a historic Orange home that bears its founder's name. Beverly's House is a daily reminder to each of us who knew Beverly Nestande, or are touched by her legacy, that one person, one voice, one idea can inspire a community and provide hope to those in need. |
